Kan Doenthang 2021: coexistence is an interactive installation, a documentary, and a collection of jewellery by Rudee Tancharoen, a Bangkok-based contemporary jewellery artist. In this series of work she has been working with Tongkum Pratummas, an ancient casting master of Baan PaAo, Ubon Ratchathani. For Thailand Biennale, as the exhibition space is on the mezzanine of the Phimai National Museum where ancient artefacts are collecting and exhibiting, Rudee presents a work that relates to the site by provoke the audiences to question themselves about the coexistence of us, as the current, and the past.

The audiences are invited to enter the exhibition space by walking through the installation consists of almost hundred cylinder shape bronze bells, made by an ancient Lost Wax Casting process, suspend from ceiling to 1.5-2.0m., scattered around the space. While walking through the installation, the audiences or part of the body of the audiences may unintentionally touch and toll the bells. The bells are in the way. Are they blocking the way or are they delighted it?

The audiences can decide how to interact with the work.

The old; old believe, old culture, old art, old craft, and etc.

They are roots that we grew from but are they there only to be admired but untouchable? How do we coexist and move on together? Could our coexistence resonate beautiful melodies?

การเดินทาง 2564: การอยู่ร่วมกัน เป็นงานศิลปะจัดวาง สารคดี และเครื่องประดับ โดยฤดี ตันเจริญ ศิลปินเครื่องประดับร่วมสมัยซึ่งพำนักอยู่ที่กรุงเทพฯ ในผลงานชุดนี้ศิลปินทำงานร่วมกับนายทองคำ ประทุมมาศ ครูช่างศิลปหัตถกรรมแห่งศูนย์ทองเหลืองบ้านปะอาว จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี สำหรับไทยแลนด์เบียนนาเล่ในครั้งนี้ พื้นที่จัดแสดงอยู่บริเวณชั้นลอยของพิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติ พิมาย ฤดีจึงนำเสนองานที่มีความเชื่อมโยงกับพื้นที่ โดยการตั้งคำถามต่อผู้ชมงานเกี่ยวกับการดำรงอยู่ร่วมกันของปัจจุบันกับอดีต ยุคเก่ากับยุคใหม่ 

งานศิลปะจัดวางประกอบด้วยกระดิ่งสำริดที่ถูกหล่อขึ้นด้วยกรรมวิธีการหล่อแบบโบราณจำนวนหลายสิบใบ ห้อยจากเพดานลงมาในระดับความสูงที่แตกต่างกันตั้งแต่ระดับหัวไหล่ขึ้นไป กระจายตัวในพื้นที่จัดแสดง ผู้เข้าชมจะต้องเดินผ่านกระดิ่งเหล่านี้เพื่อเข้าถึงพื้นที่จัดแสดงส่วนถัดไป ในขณะที่ผู้เข้าชมเดินผ่านเข้ามาในงาน ร่างกายของผู้ชมงานอาจกระทบหรือสัมผัสและสั่นกระดิ่งเหล่านั้นโดยไม่ได้ตั้งใจ กระดิ่งเหล่านี้อยู่ในทางที่เราจะเดินไป พวกมันเกะกะขวางทาง หรือทำให้การเดินทางของเราสนุกขึ้น?

ผู้ชมต้องตัดสินใจเลือกรูปแบบการปฏิสัมพันธ์กับงานเพื่อที่จะก้าวผ่านเข้าไปอดีต ไม่ว่าจะเป็น ความเชื่อ วัฒนธรรม ประเพณี งานฝีมือ งานศิลปะ ผู้คนและสิ่งต่างๆจากอดีตเป็นรากเหง้าที่เราเติบโตขึ้นมา แต่สิ่งเหล่านั้นอยู่ที่นี่เพียงเพื่อให้เราชื่นชมแต่แตะต้องไม่ได้? เราจะอยู่ร่วมกันและก้าวต่อไปด้วยกันอย่างไร? การอยู่ร่วมกันของเราจะสร้างทำนองที่ไพเราะได้หรือไม่?
