Translation Project (rest house) is a site-specific project by Make or Break, an Australian artist collective. As their artistic practice is structured around the notion of infrastructure, the artist is particularly interested in the Khmer empire’s ancient highway from Angkor to Phimai, and Dharmasala or “House of Fire ” that functioned as a rest house along the highway. The artist relates the function of Dharmasala with the brutalist concrete bus shelters that were built in Australia during the 1970s. Make or Break worked with a group of architects from Phimai Heritage Trust, a local community-based organization to merge together those two ideas. The design of the shelter was realized through the rigorous process of textual communication, translation and interpretation without giving any nonverbal hints or visual reference. The Phimai new bus shelter  is constructed from local material such as rattan and laterite. This contemporary house of fire is also solar-powered. It will be used as a rest house for the visitors of the biennale, as well as a place for future public gathering.

ทรานสเลชัน โปรเจกต์ (ศาลาพัก) เป็นผลงานเฉพาะพื้นที่ โดยเมกออร์เบรก กลุ่มศิลปินชาวออสเตรเลีย เนื่องจากการทำงานศิลปะของพวกเขามีแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับโครงสร้างพื้นฐาน ศิลปินจึงสนใจเส้นทางราชมรรคาของอาณาจักรเขมรตั้งแต่นครวัดไปจนถึงพิมาย และธรรมศาลาหรือ “บ้านมีไฟ” ซึ่งทำหน้าที่เป็นที่พักริมทาง ศิลปินเปรียบเทียบหน้าที่ของธรรมศาลากับที่รอรถประจำทางแบบบรูทัลลิสต์ที่สร้างขึ้นในออสเตรเลียในช่วงทศวรรษ 1970 เมกออร์เบรก ทำงานร่วมกับกลุ่มสถาปนิกจากภาคีอนุรักษ์เมืองพิมายซึ่งเป็นองค์กรชุมชนท้องถิ่น เพื่อผสานแนวคิดทั้งสองเข้าด้วยกัน การออกแบบสถานที่พักพิงเกิดขึ้นจากกระบวนการอันเข้มงวดระหว่างการสื่อสารด้วยตัวบท การแปล และการตีความโดยไม่มีการระบุคำใบ้หรือการอ้างอิงด้วยภาพใดๆ ศาลารอรถใหม่แห่งพิมายสร้างขึ้นจากวัสดุในท้องถิ่น เช่น หวายและศิลาแลง บ้านมีไฟร่วมสมัยแห่งนี้ใช้พลังงานแสงอาทิตย์เพื่อเป็นศาลาพักสำหรับผู้มาเยี่ยมชมงานเบียนนาเล่ และเป็นสถานที่สำหรับการชุมนุมสาธารณะในอนาคต
