The Silent Night is a series of seven photographic light boxes by Vietnamese artist, Ngoc Nau. She is a multimedia artist who incorporates various techniques and technologies into her work. Her research is focused around her hometown Thai Nguyen province, in the north of Hanoi. For Thailand Biennale, the artist draws a connection between Nakhon Ratchasima province and Thai Nguyen province.  Two provinces have been related not only in the historical context of the Cold War but also by their geographical, biological and cultural similarities. The artist created parallel landscapes through the memory of her mother. She draws our attention to seven lightboxes that represent days of a week. They tell a story of earth, water, wind, and fire. At the same time, they also reflect the stories of human’s ideological challenges, and rapid modernization that changes the environment. Installed in a classroom of the Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, the work urges the audience to consider interconnectivities in the Mekong-region, not only through the recent historical context, but also through broader cultural exchanges and environmental impacts.

คืนสงบเป็นผลงานชุดภาพถ่ายในกล่องแสงโดยศิลปินเวียดนามชื่อ หงบ โนว เธอเป็นศิลปินที่ทำงานกับสื่อใหม่โดยมักผสมผสานทักษะและเทคโนโลยีเข้าไปในผลงาน การทำงานของเธอมักผูกติดอยู่กับบ้านเกิดที่จังหวัดท้ายเงวียน ทางเหนือของกรุงฮานอย สำหรับไทยแลนด์เบียนนาเล่ ศิลปินเชื่อมโยงจังหวัดนครราชสีมาเข้ากับจังหวัดท้ายเงวียน พื้นที่ทั้งสองมีความสัมพันธ์กันในด้านบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์ผ่านยุคสงครามเย็น แต่ยังมีความเหมือนกันหลายประการในด้านภูมิศาสตร์ นิเวศวิทยา และวัฒนธรรม ศิลปินสร้างภูมิทัศน์คู่ขนานจากความทรงจำของคุณแม่ของเธอ โนวดึงความสนใจของผู้ชมไปที่ภาพในกล่องแสงทั้ง 7 ที่เป็นตัวแทนของวันในสัปดาห์ ผลงานนำเสนอเรื่องราวของดิน น้ำ ลม และไฟ ในขณะเดียวกันนั้นมันยังสะท้อนให้เห็นความท้าทางทางอุดมการณ์ในมนุษย์ และการทำให้เป็นสมัยใหม่อันรวดเร็วซึ่งเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพแวดล้อมในขณะเดียวกัน
